Landscaping Plans Submitted to City |
Soon we will have flowers and plants surrounding the development sign. The City of Irving required us to remove the mound at the entrance, and David Sherill took care of that for us. Verna Wilson submitted plans to the City and we are now awaiting their approval. Once approved we will begin the process of landscaping around the sign. This project is covered under our grant, but the City will only match funds and labor hours, so volunteers are needed. Anyone who would like to volunteer their time and assist with the landscaping may contact Verna Wilson or click on the "Contact Us" link found in the main menu, then the "Volunteer for Projects or Events" link. |

Garage Sale Results Good Despite Bad Weather |
The weather wasn't the best as it rained from the very start of the day, but even with that the Association's garage sale went on for a few hours. Even with the rain we raised $246 in sales and another $290 in donations from neighborhood residents. Thanks to everyone who contributed items and funds. Volunteers who worked the event included Janette Anderson, Jim & Charlene Murphy, Verna Wilson, Sarah Hyten, Amanda Cancel, Ed Cancel, Terri Redman, David Iraal, and Pete & Dolores Stefursky. Due to the weather cutting our day short, we will give it another try this Saturday, so if you still have any items to contribute please bring them by Ed Cancel’s house (1524 High Crest) as soon as possible. If you have questions or need someone to pick up items, please contact Pete at 214-384-7056. |

Neighborhood Watch Meeting |
The Neighborhood Watch program is now a reality. On March 24 more than 40 residents attended our initial Neighborhood Watch meeting. With 99% enrollment, Officer Crum of the Irving Police Department was pleasantly surprised by the turnout and overall participation. He provided a brief presentation about how the program works and also provided tips on how to insure its success. Thanks to Jim Wilson and Ed Cancel for not only organizing the drive to initiate the program, but also for coordinating enrollment, and thank you to Woody and Sandra Southerland for hosting the meeting. Meetings will be held quarterly and anyone with any questions or input is asked to contact Jim or Ed. Additionally, all of us would like to thank Officer Mark Dahl for stopping by specifically to hear feedback from an entire room of people regarding disturbances in our neighborhood. As Officer Dahl mentioned, the IPD has a no tolerance policy and will begin ticketing when called. He asked that we please call the Irving Police Department dispatch unit at (972) 721-2661 when a disturbance occurs. They will respond promptly to the call and will not provide anyone with information about who called. |

The Association received multiple bids for mowing the strip of land running parallel to Pioneer. After reviewing all of the submitted bids, D&M Lawn Care of Euless was selected and awarded the contract. Work began on Sunday, May 17 and will continue through October with mowing being completed every other week. Work includes mowing and edging the area from High Crest Court to Compton. |
